Bernard Haitink conducts Mahler: Symphony No. 9
Royal Concergebouw Orchestra
Bernard Haitink's appearance marked one of the climactic points of the 2010-11 season of the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra during its Mahler cycle: the honorary conductor conducts the Ninth and last symphony ever achieved by the Austrian composer.
By bringing together both the Classical and Romantic periods the Ninth Symphony is a visionary work that exerted a great influence on Debussy and Schoenberg.
